DESCRIPTION: The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Fire Weather Watch for lightning on dry fuels, which is in effect from Monday morning through Monday evening. * Affected Area...Fire Zone 213 Eastern Portion of Shasta/Trinity NF, Fire Zone 214 Burney Basin and Northeast Plateau in Shasta County Including Northwest Lassen NF north of Lassen NP, Fire Zone 263 Southeast Edge Shasta-Trinity NF and Western Portions of Tehama-Glenn Unit and Fire Zone 279 Eastern Mendocino NF. * Thunderstorms...Isolated to scattered coverage of a mix of wet and dry thunderstorms expected. Lightning strikes may also occur outside of main precipitation cores. * Outflow Winds...Gusty and erratic outflow winds could occur near any thunderstorm development. * Impacts...Lightning can create new fire starts and may combine with strong outflow winds to cause a fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
